CALANGUTE: In a shocking incident, an American woman was allegedly raped by a person who had offered her a lift after attending a night club at Arpora on Wednesday night.
According to police sources, the 20-year-old American was staying in a resort at Candolim and had gone to a night club at Arpora on Wednesday night.

After spending some time there, she decided to return to Candolim and was offered a lift by an unknown person riding a motorcycle.
The person, however, took her to an isolated spot and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her. The accused then left her in the bushes and fled the scene.
The victim then narrated the incident to her friend in Candolim, but she refused to file any complaint with the police, despite being offered assistance in the case.
Senior police officers also tried to persuade her to file a police complaint, but she flatly refused to do so and left for the United States.
