ANJUNA: The Anjuna Police registered an offence against an unknown accused for allegedly slapping a 21-year-old Russian tourist at Arpora on Wednesday night. Earlier on May 15, the victim had registered a complaint with the Calangute Police Station and was upset as the police registered a non-cognizable offence.
According to the tourist, a rider followed her while on her way back home from a shop and offered her a lift and demanded sexual favours. When she refused, the accused slapped her and fled.
On Thursday, the Russian tourist said she would be leaving India early next week and is hopeful that she would get justice.
“I will be back after three-four months and my friends will follow up on the case. Finally, the Anjuna Police registered my complaint on Wednesday night. I hope the police trace the accused,” she said.
Police informed that the victim had visited the police station at around 10 pm and a complaint was registered after verifying the details.
“At 11.50 pm, the complaint was registered that an unknown accused tried to contact the Russian tourist, abused her using filthy language and assaulted her with slaps on her face and neck. She was sent for medical test and it was revealed that she suffered minor injuries,” informed the police official.
A case has been registered against an unknown person, who is yet to be arrested, under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354D (stalking) and 504 (intentional insult) of Indian Penal Code.
