MARGAO: The Margao Town police on Tuesday night booked a case of housebreaking and theft against unknown persons following a complaint from a retired bank manager Madhav Bhat that his apartment was broken into and goods worth Rs 3.36 lakh were stolen.
In his complaint, the 60-year-old retired bank manager said he had locked his apartment at Pratibha Housing Society at Aquem and gone away. Some unknown persons broke into his house and stole several goods.
The stolen goods include a silver shield worth Rs 30,000, gold coin worth Rs 18,000, mangalsutra, 2 bangles worth Rs 90,000, two pairs of earrings worth Rs 33,000, a chain worth Rs 45,000, gold necklace worth Rs 45,000 and cash amounting to Rs 15,000.
The incident came to light on July 10 when a neighbour saw the door ajar and accordingly informed the owners, who found their house robbed.
Police have registered a case under Sections 454, 457 and 380 for housebreaking, house trespass and theft against unknown persons and PSI Sonam Vernekar is investigating the matter.
