PANJIM: The Colvale Central Jail administration on Thursday imposed a complete ban on the use of cell phones in the jail premises.
An order issued by Superintendent of Central Jail, Colvale, S B Gaonkar, said, “In order to curb the misuse of cell phones inside the jail premises, undersigned imposes complete ban on use of cell phones in jail premises i.e. beyond Gate B.”

“Any officer or official of Prison, IRBn, Escort and Visitors who carry his or her cell phone up to Gate B shall deposit his or her cell phone with security incharge at Gate B before entering in Gate C. No cell phones or prohibited articles shall be allowed beyond Gate C,” the order said.
The order will come into force with immediate effect.
