BELGAUM, JUNE 19
Authorities have restored rail services between Bannikoppa and Bhanapur of South Western Railway, which was disrupted due to the derailment of the Vasco-Howrah- Amravati Express.
The Amravati Express had rammed into a road roller on Friday at an unmanned level crossing that had resulted in derailing of two engines, eight bogies and disruption of railway traffic on Bellary and Hubli section of the South Western Railway (SWR).
According to a press release from the SWR, the rail track on the above section has been restored and certified fit for running of passenger and goods trains from 2.30 pm on Saturday.
However, the trains have to stop and proceed at a speed restriction of 10 kmph between Bannikoppa and Bhanapur. Thus the trains scheduled to run in the afternoon session from Saturday will run on the normal route between Hubli and Bellary section.
