A 47-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl in his car, a Goa Police official said.
The accused has been identified as Satyawan Harishchandra Gaonkar, a resident of Velguem.

According to police, the girl’s father filed a complaint stating that Gaonkar took the child in his car on Saturday night under the pretext of buying food. While returning, he allegedly stopped the car and sexually abused her.
Gaonkar was arrested in the early hours of Sunday from his residence. The child was medically examined at Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim.
He has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Goa Children’s Act, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police confirmed that further investigation is ongoing.
