Addressing the media, BJP general secretary Sadanand Tanawade said, “Currently only government servants are not covered under the scheme. We want that the benefit be extended to them.”
DDSSY, which kicked off on September 1, provides cover to 447 aliments including mental illness, ayurvedic treatment and long-term medication for chronic lifestyle diseases such as hypertension and diabetes at 19 empanelled private hospitals and four government-run hospitals, including Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC). Till date, nearly 25 patients have benefited from the scheme.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar had earlier said that the government is contemplating bringing its employees under the DDSSY cover for up to Rs 4 lakhs per family, thereafter granting limitless medical reimbursement.
