Ponda PI Sudesh Naik, the investigating officer, said that the accused has been shifted to general ward from ICU; and though he is recovering, he still has pain in his stomach. As a murder offence is already registered against him he will be placed under arrest after his recovery from injuries.
Sujata was shot dead for apparently not responding to the overtures of the accused. The incident took place on September 15 late evening at Marcaim that shocked the locals.
On the fateful day, the youth trespassed into the girl’s house at around 7 pm, threatened the female members and children present including the girl’s mother. After some altercation the youth shot the girl on the chest killing her instantly.
Sujata’s was a second such murder in Marcaim. Fifteen years ago, one Tanuja Naik was shot dead by unknown persons while she was on her way back home, taking a shortcut from Marcaim Industrial Estate.
