Body of migrant balloon sellers’ baby found buried in Mapusa

MAPUSA: Bardez Deputy Collector Yeshwini B exhumed the partially decomposed body of an 18-month-old boy, which was found buried at Morod,  Mapusa, on Tuesday evening.

The toddler had reportedly died from a sickness around four days ago.

The baby’s parents hail from Mumbai and sell balloons. They had come to Mapusa on Carnival Day. Sources said that the family follows the ritual of burying their dead and the parents conducted the final rites of the baby at Morod. Sources said that dogs in the area had dug up the partially decomposed body.

On Tuesday, a fire incident was reported at Morod, and when Mapusa fire brigade personnel were dousing the blaze, they discovered the partially buried body of the baby. They immediately informed the police and the body was exhumed and shifted to Goa Medical College for the autopsy.
