PANJIM: The Directorate of Women and Child Development has decided to re-verify the details of the beneficiaries of State government’s flagship scheme Griha Aadhar, sanctioned from December 2012 to June 2013.
The move comes after last month’s Herald exposé that fake marriage certificates were reportedly being used to avail benefits under the scheme.
Director Sunil Masurkar had assured to conduct an inquiry. He had said that once fake beneficiaries are identified the recovery proceedings would be initiated against them to get back all the money which they had pilfered under this scheme.
A formal announcement about the re-verification came on Tuesday through a press statement issued by the Directorate of Information and Publicity.
Meanwhile, according to the press note, the beneficiaries have been asked to submit documents such as Life Certificates and the Income Certificates, as the case may be, to the respective Child Development Program Officers (CDPOs) at the Taluka Office of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) before October 31, 2013 during office hours. The beneficiaries can also additionally update their mobile numbers to receive timely notifications on disbursements.
Under this scheme the housewives are paid Rs 1,000 per month by the State government to offset consequences of inflation.
