Cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 1.27 lakh were stolen from a flat behind Sai Temple, New Vaddem-Vasco, on Friday.
According to Vasco Police, burglars targeted the flat belonging to Sudesh Gaonkar.
Since Sudesh and his wife are both teachers, they had left the flat in the morning. However, when Sudesh returned home in the afternoon, he found the main door of the flat open, he assumed that his wife might have returned from the duty.
However, when the complainant noticed that the cupboard in his rooms and belongings ransacked, he realized that his flat was robbed.
The incident has hurt the complainant’s wife the most, as she had recently bought the new jewelry that went missing as she had not worn it for a single time.
Vasco Police informed that gold valuables about Rs 1 lakh and cash of Rs 27,000 were missing from the flat.
Vasco Police pressed the dog squad and finger print experts to ascertain the lead in the case. Police has registered an offence against unknown persons and is investigating the case.
If police statistics is considered, in Mormugao taluka, it appears that house-breaking incidents have become a regular phenomena in the recent past, as on an average every month one such incident is recoded.
On July 26, a flat at Diwan Vastu was robbed and burglars decamped with gold valuables worth about Rs 4 lakh.
