The sarpanch said he is being constantly questioned by villagers about the dance bars and when they are going to be shut.

“Recently the panchayat had conducted a site inspection of all these places. Our panchayat licence is only for a restaurant which has to be closed at 11 pm. When we inspected the places, they showed that they have excise licence allowing them to stay open till late. We cannot do anything about that,” Sequeira said.

However, he said that during the inspection it was found that many illegalities are going on in these places, and based on the report prepared they have taken a decision to shut them down.
