MARGAO: The Ambora-Camurlim accident that claimed the life of a 14-year-old-girl student Neomi Dias dominated the Camurlim gram sabha on Sunday with members demanding that the PWD immediately conduct a re-survey and demarcate the acquired land for road widening.
The gram sabha members adopted a resolution demanding withdrawal of the cases filed against them for blocking the road and also threatened to take a morcha to PWD if the department fails to conduct a re-survey and demarcate the acquired land for the road within eight days.
Raising the issue, Jesus Ramao underlined the need for the authorities to carry out a re-survey as though land had been acquired for 22 mts wide road there is no demarcation and the road to be uneven. Gram sabha members supported Romao in his demand for re-survey and a joint inspection.
Roque Dias pointed that the said road has been accident prone after it was converted in 4-lane with 25 accidents taken and 11 persons having lost their lives on the stretch in last one year.
A resolution also was taken to allow effected Karpe to reconstruct his shop-tea restaurant cum resident shifting away from road after following due legal procedure.
Earlier, the secretary read the minutes of the last gram sabha and also informed on action taken report, audit report 2012-13, administrative report 2012-13 and account statement for 2013-14 while informing that audit has not raised any major queries in their report. Other issue discussed was query of Camilo Mascarenhas in regard to approval of plan for bungalows at Naquelim, Ancy Cardozo alleging that builder had exceeded FAR at row house, Naquelim. A revised plan which was brought for approval of gram sabha for three row houses was kept in abeyance with gram sabha demanding to call the applicant at next gram sabha to explaine why he had revised the plan.
