According to CBI officials, raids were planned at five places and on raiding the places related documents and files were seized. CBI also raided the Passport Office, and residences of three others.
The raid at Fernandes’ house in Kirbhat-Nuvem began at 7 am and went on till late evening. The bungalow’s main door was kept closed during the raid and no one was allowed to move in or out of the house. An officer who emerged from the house during the raid said, “All information will be given from CBI headquarters and to avoid any political intervention we have kept the raid under cover.”
The largest seizure was from the residence at Nuvem, where CBI seized foreign currency, a sizable amount of Indian currency, over 100 bottles of foreign liquor and other passport related documents.
The CBI officer has not ruled out the possibility of arresting Fernandes.
