“I have full faith in all the councillors as they have ethics and principles and I do not think that they will go to low level to defeat me, but the results were as expected as there was lot of pressure on them,” said the outgoing Chairperson Hodarkar when asked by media persons if he feels money power played any role in supporting the no- confidence motion.

Hodarkar replied positively when asked whether he is now eying to contest the assembly election against the seating MLA.

“To contest election, the first thing required is that people must accept you and if they tell me and make me their consensus candidate than definitely I will contest, as I want to save Curchorem and self-respect of Kudchodkars,” he said.

Congratulating the nine councillors who succeeded in moving the no-confidence motion, local MLA and Power Minister Nilesh Cabral said, “they all came together for the development of Curchorem”. “Earlier they may have been misguided which led to what had happened on April 1 but now they themselves came together and sorted out the misunderstandings and decided to work together for the development of Curchorem-Cacora for which I have assured my support as an MLA,” Cabral said.

Director of Land Survey Records, Johnson Fernandes was the presiding officer and conducted the election in the presence of Chief Officer Ajay Gaude.

“Since the chairperson is ousted and vice-chairperson had resigned earlier, the Director of Municipal Administration (DMA) will prepare the election schedule and fix the date to conduct the election for both the post,” informed Fernandes.

It may be recalled that on April 1 the nine councillors moved a no-confidence motion against Hodarkar within a few hours after he was elected for the chairperson’s post.
