The employees were suspended from June 5. Kerkar, however, said that the suspension order has been revoked from August 25. The union members, who have been protesting since last one week, had initially decided to meet CCP Commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues but later gheroed deputy collector as Rodrigues was on leave.
Union president Ajitsingh Rane said that workers who were suspended should be reinstated from June 5. “We want CCP to revoke its order,” he said, failing which the union will go on an indefinite strike from August 28.
The suspension order of the five CCP workers, who served for over 10 years, was issued by the corporation’s commissioner. The Union had asked the commissioner to take these workers back.
Speaking to union leader Rane, the deputy collector said that he cannot take the decision of reinstating the workers from June 5, as the suspension order was issued by the
Commissioner.
