MARGAO: Public Works Minister, Sudin Dhavlikar on Sunday said the Centre has sanctioned in principle Rs 250 crore to take up the bypass roads at Chara Rasta-Pollem and Nuvem-Dramapur, even as he promised to provide 24×7 drinking water supply to Goans by March 2016.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Assolna-Cavelossim bridge inauguration, Dhavlikar said Union Surface Transport Minister Oscar Fernandes has in principle agreed to sanction Rs 250 crore for the Canacona-Polem and Nuvem-Dramapur bypass roads, land acquisition for which was completed over a decade and half ago.
“The Canacona bypass includes two bridges at Galgibag and Maxem. I had a meeting with Oscar along with south Goa MP Francisco Sardinha. The project has been sanctioned under the Engineers Project Development Service. The file will now go to the minister within eight days after the financial sanction”, he said, adding that many road works, including bypasses at Dhavli in Ponda and the Dabolim-Mormugao road have received sanction.
On JICA projects, Dhavlikar said that projects worth Rs 1100 crore are in progress and at various stages of completion. “Upgradation of the 100 mld plant at Selaulim, laying of 1400 diameter pipe line from Selaulim to Margao and Verna and Mormugao are in the progress”, he said, adding that 60 per cent of the sewerage works taken up in various areas of the state stands completed till date.
