“We shall segregate the dry and wet waste and for this we will engage labourers,” said sarpanch Edward D’Silva adding that presently they have contacted several people to get the labourers.

He said if they do not get labourers they would give the entire contract of collecting the waste, segregating it and disposing the same to a private contractor. “I have been informed that there are contractors willing to take up such work and I shall try to contact them as soon as possible,” he said adding that in Navelim there are people who take up such jobs on contract basis. Davorlim Dicarpale has requested the Water Resources Department to permit them to set up the MRF shed on their land next to the power Sub Station at Davorlim. “We propose to set up a baling machine along with the MRF at the site,” said sarpanch Herculano Niasso. The baling machine is expected to cost around Rs 12 lakh while the MRF shed erection is likely to cost around Rs 15 lakh, Herculano said.
