Chandor earns Rs 27,000 as fine on garbage dumping

MARGAO: Chandor Cavorim Panchayat collected Rs 27,000 as fine from people who were found dumping garbage in the village and Sarpanch Edward D’Silva thanked the vigilant villagers who caught the persons doing these act.
“I am really grateful to our Garbage Management Committee Chairman John Douglas Coutinho and Minush Gomes for all the help and initiative taken by them in keeping the village clean,” D’Silva said and thanked the village youngsters who caught the people from other villages dumping their waste in Chandor.
Those fined are Digambar Raut Dessai from Assolda and LIC agent Rajendra Chipkar from Churchorem who had to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 each while Ram Kumar Ray from Patna who was caught dumping mixed hotel waste near the panchayat garbage collection centre was fined Rs 15,000.
Rs 2,000 were collected from Sachin Hariwal a migrant living in neighbouring Guirdolim village for dumping waste at Misamer in Chandor.
