PANJIM: Crime Branch has postponed the filing of a complete chargesheet in the Tarun Tejpal alleged sexual assault case to February 27, as its investigation nears the final stage.
The CB had initially decided to file a chargesheet by January-end which was postponed to February 5. “It is being compiled…Certain gaps in the investigation are being filled to ensure a watertight case against Tarun Tejpal. The chargesheet may be submitted to the court during the third week or latest by February 27 since the 90 days period permitted by law expires that day,” an officer wishing anonymity disclosed.
Tejpal’s remand at Sada sub jail ends next Monday. The judicial custody has been extended thrice after 10-day police custody ended on December 10, 2013.
Meanwhile, a draft chargesheet is being prepared to be circulated among the senior officers for reference. The draft is likely to be ready by Friday.
