PANJIM: The Children’s Court on Thursday acquitted one Siddharth Shetkar of Colvale, who was charged with raping a three-year-old girl.
Shetkar who was working in a night club was arrested on November 15, 2015 and remained in jail till the acquittal. He was released immediately after the acquittal on Feb 23.
The case, filed under Sections 376, 354 of the IPC, Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act and section 4 of POCSO, was investigated by Mapusa Police following a complaint from the mother of the girl.
Shetkar was represented by advocate Anoop Kudtarkar and the State was represented by Public Prosecutor Neeta Marathe.
