CHORAO: Chodan-Madel village panchayat will hold its special gram sabha on July 31 to discuss the status of the proposed Chorao bridge.
At the last gram sabha held on July 3, the villagers called upon the panchayat to fix July 31 to discuss the issue. Acting sarpanch Vassudev Dhuri informed the villagers that the panchayat has called for a special gram sabha on July 31.
The panchayat has also called upon Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, MLA Anant Shet and GSIDC officers to provide the status of the proposed bridge.
United Citizens of Chorao president Shrikrishna Haldankar requested the acting sarpanch that instead of holding the special gram sabha in the panchayat hall, the same be conducted in St Bartholomew’s school hall as the panchayat hall is small and cannot accommodate a huge gathering of villagers.
The acting sarpanch informed members that the gram sabha will be held as per the availability of the school hall.
For over a year-and-a-half, at every gram sabha the villagers passed a unanimous resolution asking the panchayat to hold special gram sabha and invite the Chief Minister, MLA Anant Shet and GSIDC officers to know the status of the bridge.
