Churchill addresses meet in support of Joseph Silva

PWD Minister, Churchill Alemao on Wednesday hit the election election campaign in ward no 3 of the Margao Municipal Council for the candidate fielded by his close aide, GPCC General Secretary Vijay Sardessai.
If Churchill’s younger brother, Urban Development Minister, Joaquim Alemao opened the election office of Fatorda Block Congress president, Joseph Silva in ward No 3 nearly a fortnight ago, PWD Minister addressed Silva’s election meeting on Wednesday evening, making an appeal to the electorate to elect Silva with a thumping majority.
This is the first meeting addressed by Churchill in the ensuing Municipal polls in the Fatorda area of the Margao municipal area. Alemao has not made his presence in the Margao area of the Civic body.
Describing Joseph Silva as a humble person, who is always ready to help the poor and the downtrodden, Alemao said that Joseph is the right candidate to represent the people of ward no 3 in the Margao Municipal Council.
He said that the government and the entire Congress party is full supporting the candidature of Joseph Silva and urged the voters to cast their vote in favour of the Block Congress president.
Incidentally, the PWD minister said that whatever development that has taken place in Fatorda constituency during the last three years has been done by him and Chief Minister Digambar Kamat at the instance of GPCC general secretary Vijay Sardessai.
“Many people today claims credit for the development work in Fatorda, but the fact remains that no development can take place if the same is not approved by the Chief Minister and other ministers”, he asserted.
In his address, GPCC general secretary Vijay Sardessai cautioned the voters of ward No 3 not to split votes, saying that any split in the votes would only help the BJP.
“I was defeated in the last Assembly elections because of split in the votes. We should never allow this to happen again as it would only help the BJP”, he added.
He rubbished rumours that the fields will be used for the purpose of setting up a kabrastan after harvesting and asserted that the Congress government is behind the candidature of Joseph Silva.
Muslim leader Akbar Mulla, ST leader Joseph Vaz, besides Joseph Silva and others spoke at the meeting.
