The location near Almeida High School in the vicinity of old bus-stand in Ponda happens to be a most sensitive location regarding traffic congestion in the city.
With the ever-increasing traffic along this route during recent years, the situation has turned undesirable for travellers and pedestrians alike. Especially during peak hours, traffic congestion becomes the order of the day. Parents visiting the school premises to drop/pick-up their children often halt/park their vehicles on the road, thereby causing hardships to fellow travellers and pedestrians. The situation in this regard has been worsening day by day and the concerned authorities like the Road Transport Office and Traffic Cell Department have yet to undertake appropriate positive steps to assure smooth movement of vehicular traffic at this critical location which happens to be a death trap on most occasions.
It is absolutely necessary that timely favourable action is initiated so that the existing undesirable condition is brought under firm control. The higher officials at the RTO and Traffic Cell Department should hold a joint meeting at once to chalk out necessary steps so as to assure smooth movement of vehicular traffic at above strategic location before the situation turns from bad to worse.
