For over two decades we have been talking about the menace of plastic bags.
Margao Municipal Council had even put up boards at various places giving directives on plastic bags and advising the ban on plastic bags below the prescribed microns.
In due course, the boards rusted away and the plastic bags to became even thinner.
And despite all this, we are still talking. When will we stop the talk and take action?
The other pertinent issue is the garbage menace.
MMC, at considerable cost to the public, had supplied two bins to each house for waste segregation at source.
Soon people stopped segregating the waste when they saw the garbage collector put everything in one container.
Why is there no accountability?
Can anybody inform the public as to how many trucks/tons of garbage reaches the Sonsodo dump everyday and how many trucks/tons is processed?
If the former is the case, as it appears to be, then Sonsodo will soon become the highest peak in the suburbs.
Lets not just talk, let our actions do the taking!
