CM may be unaware of Cong fact-finding report: Shantaram

Rajya Sabha member Shantaram Naik today said that Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, who gave clean chit to BJP leader Manohar Parrikar in a multi-crore scam relating to building infrastructure for IFFI, might be not aware about the fact-finding report commissioned by the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) in 2004.
“Kamat says that he was miss-quoted by media over the statement. But even if Kamat has made such statement then I think he is not aware about the report that was commissioned by GPCC under my chairmanship,” Naik told reporters.
“You ask this question to the chief minister. You tell him that the GPCC in its report had pointed out number of illegalities regarding IFFI 2004. There is no question of a clean chit,” he added.
Interestingly, the Congress fact-finding report holds the entire core committee of IFFI 2004, Kamat was also part of it, responsible for the alleged infrastructure scam. “In my report I have clearly targeted Parrikar, who was solely responsible for all the irregularities. There is no mention of core-committee,” Naik replied to a question.
Parrikar, who is being probed by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for IFFI scam was given a clean chit by Kamat, saying that the core committee had taken all decisions correctly.
When asked, Naik said he is willing to hand over the fact-finding committee report to the CBI officials as evidence if they ask for it.
“Till date no one has approached me for the report. If asked I am willing to hand it over to them anytime. Let them investigate,” he stated.
Naik said that the investigations into the 2004 alleged scandal had dragged on for a considerable length of time. “Long back I had approached CBI over the matter but at that time they said that there is no such intimation,” he said.
