CM Pramod Sawant urges people to repel rumours against COVID vaccination

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has urged people to stay away from propaganda and rumours against ongoing vaccination drive against COVID-19. He also advised everyone to be part of the world’s largest immunization program.

“I appeal each and every one to be part of the vaccination program and not fall prey to propaganda or rumours. We need to march towards becoming a State and country free from COVID-19,” he said while speaking at the launch of a month long awareness drive on COVID Vaccination, its efficacy, safety organized by the Field Outreach Bureau (FOB) Goa- unit of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. 

The campaign is to be done plying state-of-the-art Mobile Exhibition vans through North and South Goa. Each van will travel 30 to 40 kms and cover 8 to 10 villages daily in each district. A team of 5 to 6 members of private registered troupes will be onboard for cultural performances in the cities/villages (on the route) to create awareness on COVID vaccination and Atmanirbhar Bharat through local folk and infotainment.

The campaign is to clear apprehensions on Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI). Sawant said that the first phase of vaccination in Goa recorded nearly 9200 health workers being vaccinated. In last two days, over 2000 frontline workers in the State are administered vaccination. 

“An awareness campaign like this will help to reach out to the last person in the society; that is our vision of ‘Antodaya’. Under ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Swayampurna Goa’ campaigns, a total of 35 schemes have been implemented so far. Our government aims to make Goa self-reliant by December 19, 2021,” he added.

The massive awareness drive by FOB Goa intends to reach out to every nooks and crannies with information regarding COVID vaccination plan and COVID appropriate behavior; curbing misinformation and rumors surrounding vaccines. The campaign is geared towards confidence building and to clear the air on all the aspects of vaccination.

The campaign also involves a component on Atmanirbhar Bharat, through which FOB Goa plans to inform Goans various schemes, prospects and policies of Government of India which includes Skill development, Entrepreneurship, significance of Vocal for Local.
