Vasco: Mormugao municipality workers have arrived to the decision that would continue their ongoing strike as negotiations between the administrator and the workers union on Friday failed to come out with solution.
Municipal workers’ union secretary Anil Shirodkar after the meeting stated that they had demanded that firstly their salaries are paid and the deducted installments of two months are cleared in LIC and Banks. They gave three months to the municipality administrator to settle rest of the demands of workers such as clearing pending DA arrears, 7th pay commission arrears and uniform allowance etc.
“But when we asked to fulfill few more demands of the workers in written with the exact date but first fulfill the promises made to the workers, the administrator denied the negotiations failed,” he said
Shirodkar on a concluding note mentioned apparently Government had pan to impose Essential Services Maintenance Act so that workers could not sit on strike. He questioned expressing surprise ‘whether it is unjust to protest asking for rightful salary which labours deserve for working sincerely.’
