Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant took a dig at the Opposition on Thursday, highlighting their change in attitude towards the Mhaje Ghar Yojana. He said that the same leaders who had once criticised the state government’s flagship housing scheme are now actively assisting citizens in filling out application forms. “Some Opposition members downloaded the forms the very day the scheme was notified and are now helping people apply — see how smart they are,” the Chief Minister quipped, drawing laughter from the audience. Sawant said this turnaround reflects the growing popularity, transparency, and acceptance of the scheme among Goans.
The Mhaje Ghar Yojana aims to fulfil the dream of home ownership for thousands of Goans by providing financial support to eligible families. The Chief Minister maintained that the programme’s success lies in its ability to benefit people across constituencies, beyond political lines.
