PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday expressed unhappiness over the delay in completion of over 80 projects undertaken by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC).
Parrikar chaired a meeting to review the status of GSIDC projects, that was attended by Chairman Deepak Pawaskar and newly appointed vice chairman Sidharat Kuncolienkar along with others.
Speaking to Herald after the meeting, Pawaskar said the Chief Minister has set fresh deadlines for completion of projects and has asked that deadlines be met. “There are nearly 80 projects that GSIDC has taken up and are in the pipeline. The projects had commenced one-two year back and are yet to be completed,” he said.
The project includes construction of new bus stands, renovation of government schools, health facilities like cottage hospital, projects under AMRUT scheme, minor bridges and roads.
Pawaskar said that GSIDC has decided not to undertake any projects below the cost of Rs 10 crore, except for projects sanctioned under AMRUT and Smart City concept and those related to education and health sector.
“We have now decided to take up only big projects,” he said adding that the corporation will also not indulge in any road related works without prior consent from Public Works Department (PWD).
Small works like construction of gutters, laying of pavers, beautification, plantation, etc, will also not be taken up by GSIDC as it does not have a mechanism nor is geared up to take up such types of works independently.
