PANJIM: The first State Convention of Co-operative Societies will be held on December 6, wherein a road-map for the next ten years will be prepared on how to strengthen the co-operative sector, with special focus on credit societies.
Addressing the media, Co-operation minister Mahadev Naik announced that the convention would be the first of its kind in the State, which will be attended by the representatives of nearly 3095 co-operative societies. “The convention will end with a road-map for next ten years, mooting out various steps to be initiated for strengthening and effective functioning of these societies,” he said.
The Co-operation department has constituted several committees, which would be making taluka level visits, taking feedback from all the co-operative societies, which would be incorporated while drafting the road-map.
Convention committee president Prabhakar Vernekar said the challenges of the co-operative societies would be also included in the road-map, which is crucial ahead of technical difficulties these societies will face.
