Colva Residents Accuse Agent of ₹7 Lakh Overseas Job Scam; Police Receive Complaint

A group of residents from Colva has lodged a formal complaint at the Colva Police against an agent, Mosmi Khan F. Pereira, alleging cheating and fraud linked to a promised overseas employment opportunity.

According to the complaint, the accused assured the victims of securing jobs in Belgium and collected substantial sums for processing and related formalities. The complainants stated that an initial payment exceeding ₹2.9 lakh was made, while a total of ₹7 lakh per person was allegedly demanded.

However, after receiving the money, the agent reportedly failed to deliver on the promise and has since become unresponsive. The victims claimed that despite repeated attempts to contact her since February, she has avoided communication and has not returned the funds.

Terming the act as fraud and cheating, the complainants have urged police to register an FIR and initiate strict action at the earliest.

The police have acknowledged the complaint and are expected to take necessary action following a preliminary inquiry.
