MARGAO: Congress spokesperson Durgadas Kamat has demanded a judicial probe into the IFFI expenditure of the last four years, claiming that over Rs 50 crore had been fraudulently spent.
“Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was the chief minister from 2012 to 2014 and the opposition leader from 2007 to 2012. While in the opposition, he levelled allegations on the floor of the Assembly about irregularities in the IFFI expenditure for the cultural programmes of 2007 and 2008,” said Kamat.
Kamat also claimed that Parrikar had categorically stated that question of taking action against anyone did not arise as there was no misappropriation or irregularities, which exposed the fact that Parrikar had levelled baseless and mala fide allegations against then Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and the Entertainment Society of Goa.
He further said, “The figures given by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar pertaining to the IFFI expenditure from 2012 to 2015 have exposed gross irregularities and manipulation of records by the government headed by Parrikar from 2012 to 2014 and current ESG chairman Damu Naik.”
The figures reveal an exorbitant expenditure of Rs 12.71crore on IFFI 2012, Rs 10.88 crore on IFFI 2013, and Rs 12.71 crore on IFFI 2014.”
