‘Cong politicising road works in Canacona’

Goa Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar pointed out that there was a procedural delay in the Karmal Ghat issue but it has now been sorted out.

PANJIM: Goa Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar on Monday said that the temporary work of widening the narrow accident-prone Karmal Ghat section road has been approved by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highway.

Tawadkar said that if the permissions from the Forest Department are obtained within next two to three months, then all the accident-prone areas and sharp curves on the roads with be rectified within next six months. 

Alleging that some Congress leaders from Canacona Taluka were unnecessarily politicising road works undertaken in the taluka, he said that he has requested them to first support his efforts to improve the roads for vehicular traffic. 

He claimed that the people of Canacona want the Karmal Ghat section road issue to be sorted out on priority.

The Minister pointed out that there was procedural delay but the issue has now been sorted out. Also the ongoing national highway work will be completed within next two to three years, he added.
