PANJIM: Congress party has urged Goa Lokayukta to take suo moto cognizance of Vyapam like recruitment scam underway in government departments, alleging that Rs five lakh to Rs 50 lakh are charged for posts in various posts.
Warning that the party would to investigate into each and every post filled during the BJP rule since 2012, once Congress comes to power, the party has also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate action against the government, which, the Congress says, has overruled Centre’s guidelines over recruitments.
Addressing media persons, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar alleged that government has done farce of recruitment, with favouritism and money power over ruling merits.
“Advertisement of posts, written examinations…everything is just a farce as the candidates for the posts are selected even before holding the exams. Money power is all that rules these recruitments,” he said.
Chodankar said that the person who quotes the maximum amount is selected for the post. “The posts, depending on its Class, are sold at a price ranging between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 50 lakh,” he charged.
“We urged Goa Lokayukta to take suo moto cognizance of the recruitment farce and take action. Another Vyapam scam is in the making involving politicians and government officials,” he said claiming that departments like PWD, Electricity and Health witness maximum irregularities in the recruitment process.
Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s December 2015 announcement, wherein he said to scrap oral interviews for Class C and D posts in a bid to bring in transparency in the recruitment process, Chodankar alleged that BJP has scant respect for their PM.
“Based on the PM’s announcement, the Central government had in January 2016 issued a circular scrapping all oral interviews. However, the guidelines were thrown into the dustbin in PM’s own BJP ruled State. Scant respect was given to PM. Government overruled the directions and conducted oral interviews,” he claimed.
“If PM has no control over his party ruled State, then, he has no right to give advice to the people of the country,” Chodankar said adding, “The PM should take serious action against the government.”
