Margao Congress Block Convener Savio Coutinho has levelled serious allegations of irregularities in the ongoing recruitment process for various posts at the Margao Municipal Council (MMC), demanding complete transparency from the authorities.
Coutinho claimed there were “clear signs of manipulation” in the manner applications were processed.

“We have very concrete information that the applications received in the first week of November 2024 have been tampered with by vested interests,” he charged.
He demanded that the MMC Chief Officer publicly disclose the total number of applications received, along with the lists of accepted and rejected applications for each post.
Written tests for the posts are scheduled to be held on August 23 and 24 across three centres — Navelim, Cuncolim, and Porvorim. However, Coutinho alleged that several candidates had not received their call letters, raising doubts over the fairness of the exercise.
“This deliberate delay or non-dispatch of call letters will naturally keep genuine candidates away from attending the written test, much to the advantage of certain vested interests,” he said.
The Congress leader warned that his team would not tolerate any attempt to deny deserving youth their rightful chance.
“We shall not allow fraud to be played on young aspirants who sincerely hope that their merit will reward them with a job,” he asserted.
Coutinho further appealed to applicants who had not received call letters to get in touch with him for assistance. “Those who haven’t received their call letters may contact me,” he added.
Calling for urgent intervention, Coutinho urged the MMC to act transparently and fairly, warning that continued opacity in the recruitment process would only erode public trust in the council’s functioning.
