PONDA: The Congress, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and Aam Aadmi Party on Friday demand inquiry into the Electricity Department’s old truck involved in an accident claiming lives of three employees, at the accident-prone Borim Circle, Thursday. AAP Leader Parshuram Sonurlekar filed a police complaint against the Chief Electrical Engineer and Managing Director of Directorate of Transport holding them responsible for the killing of three Electricity Department’s staff.
Speaking to media, Sonurlekar said, “When ministers can get new vehicles why old vehicles aged 25-30 years are forced to be driven by the drivers of various departments.” He said, “If drivers opposed to drive old vehicles than they are harassed and warned of issuing memo. The truck was not maintained and how the old vehicles are allowed for passing by the transport officials.”

MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar said the Motor Vehicle Act is violated by transporting more persons than specified in the rules. The government should conduct inquiry into this and find out who is responsible for the accident.
Congress Women Wing Chief Pratima Coutinho demanded inquiry and added that an attempt to murder case should be registered for negligence.
