Ex Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar, and a group of concerned citizens, staged a protest outside Vidyut Bhavan in Panaji on Tuesday, demanding that the government issue a formal notification scrapping the Smart Meter Project.
The protesters argued that verbal assurances and public announcements regarding the project’s cancellation were insufficient and called for an official government order to conclusively terminate the initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Patkar said the people of Goa deserve clarity and transparency on the issue, stressing that only a written notification would provide certainty and prevent the project from being revived in the future.
The protesters maintained that until an official notification is issued, doubts will remain about the status of the project. They urged the government to act swiftly and place the matter beyond ambiguity.
The demonstration comes amid continuing debate over the Smart Meter Project in Goa, with opposition parties and citizen groups seeking greater accountability and clarity from the authorities regarding its implementation and future.
