Consortium to build MPT coal terminal

PANJIM, SEPT 22 The Mudra Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (Ahmedabad) and Adani Enterprises Ltd (Ahmedabad) consortium were today awarded the task of building a mechanized coal handling terminal at berth number 7 of the Mormugao Port Trust.

The Mudra Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (Ahmedabad)  and Adani Enterprises Ltd (Ahmedabad) consortium were today awarded the task of building a mechanized coal handling terminal at berth number 7 of the Mormugao Port Trust.
Estimated to be built at a cost of Rs 252 crore from January 2010, the project will be developed on a design, build, operate and transfer basis, It will be scheduled for commissioning for commercial operation by March  2013.
Adani Mormugao Port Terminal Pvt Ltd, Ahmedabad has been incorporated as a special purpose vehicle to execute the concession agreement and subsequently to carry out all responsibilities as the concessionaire in terms of the agreement. While the letter of award (LoA) to undertake the project was issued on August 7, 2009, the -signed with the SPV today.
The consortium will offer 20 per cent of the revenue earned to MPT, which is the highest between the two bids received. The other bid received was from the consortium of IL&FS Maritime Infrastructure Company Ltd (Mumbai) and Punj Lloyd Ltd  (Gurgaon).
