VASCO: The Mormugao Taluka Enforcement Squad conducted inspections in Vasco town recently to check for violations of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003 (COTPA).
The Enforcement Squad booked cases for violation of Section 4 and recovered fines of Rs 2,000 mainly from liquor retail outlets, tourist lodges, sweet marts and an insurance office.

According to GOACAN, the squad led by Avelina D’Sa e Pereira Mormugao Taluka Jt Mamlatdar-II and GOACAN co-ordinator Roland Martins were accompanied by office staff Hanumant Mandrekar, Talathi Vasco, Dayanand Thakkar Sanitary Inspector UHC and police personnel.
The squad found the violation of Section 4 of COTPA in liquor retail outlets and kiosks. The same will be reported to the South Goa District Collector at the next quarterly review meeting.
