Court examines two witnesses in power rebate scam

MARGAO: The power rebate scam case came up before Special Judge Irshad Agha  on Friday and two witness were examined by the court. The matter is posted for further hearing on April 12.  

In 1998, former chief minister Manohar Parrikar exposed the power scam and an FIR was registered with the crime branch of the Goa police against the then power minister in the Congress government who is presently a minister in the BJP government.

It may be recalled that the court on July 16 ,2022 had dismissed the applications made by then power minister Mauvin Godinho,  Katreddi Venkata Sahaye Krishnakumar and M/s Glass Fibre Division, (A division of Binani Zinc Ltd) presently known as M/s Goa Glass Fibre Ltd for discharging them in the power scam case .

The  crime  branch  had  filed a chargesheet  regarding a corruption case  against a former power minister, besides two  industrial units and four others in connection with the  alleged Rs 4.52 crore power rebate scam.
