Woman suicide 
Victim: Deceased Preeti Fadte Gaonkar.
Place: Banastarim-Ponda.
Date: April 13, 2013.
Police Station: Ponda.
Incident: A 34-year-old woman had reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence on April 13. The case was registered as unnatural death. However, police claimed that after the investigation, a case of abetment to suicide and dowry harassment has been registered on May 8.
Status of Investigation: According to Ponda Police, deceased Preeti Gaonkar committed suicide allegedly due to the harassment meted to her by the accused. Ponda Police have registered an offence under abetment to suicide and dowry harassment against the husband and in-laws of the deceased. Police Sub-Inspector Sadashiv Hanashikutti is investigating the case.
Theft at minister’s office 
Victim: Minister Deepak Dhavalikar
Place: Panjim
Date: May 21
Police Station: Panjim
 Incident: Unknown person(s) broke open the minister’s personal office at Campal Trade Centre on the intervening night of May 21-22. The thieves cut open the second door of the office, located on the first floor after easily unlocking the first door using a key. A complaint was filed by Gajanan Naik of Borim, an employee of the office.
 Status of investigation: The police have registered a case against the unknown persons. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the culprits, perhaps having as idea of the office, used tools to cut open the door after unlocking the first door. 
There was nothing missing from the office, according to the Panjim police.
