MARGAO, NOV 28
The Curtorim gram sabha on Sunday took strong objection to extraction of sand and the movement of heavy trucks transporting sand from Manki Tar.
At the gram sabha meeting chaired by Sarpanch Alcina D’Silva on Sunday, residents of Ulondo-Sonvonxem opposed the activity saying the movement of heavy traffic on the narrow roads posed danger to the locals.
The members demanded from the sarpanch necessary action in this respect, even as the persons involved in sand extraction have claimed that they possess the licences to carry out the activity.
Meanwhile, the gram sabha has given 15-day time to study and give its report on the housing project mooted by a builder at Maina.
The decision was taken based on an earlier resolution asking the Panchayat body to place all construction files of multi-dwelling units before the gram sabha for approval.
Members of the Curtokarancho Ekvott will conduct the study on the housing project and submit a report on the discrepancies, if any, to the panchayat body.
