PANJIM: In the wake of inputs regarding possible security threat in the western coast of India and possibility of anti-social elements use facilities at cyber cafes to breach security protocols, the North Goa District Magistrate Ajit Roy has directed owners and operators of all the cyber cafes in its jurisdiction to prohibit any person whose identity has not been established.
The order is with effect from December 30, 2021 valid for 60 days till February 27, 2022.

The advisory also states that a register will have to be maintained for identity of each visitor/user in the Cyber Café and get the latter’s visiting time, name, residential address, telephone number and identity proof in its own handwriting.
The visitor/user should also sign the register kept for this purpose. So also, record of each computer used should be maintained while also CCTVs at each cyber cafe should be in working condition and cover any person entering the place. Activity server log should be preserved in the main server and its record should be maintained for at least 6 months, it further said.
Goa is often on security alert during the tourist season and peak season in December. In the latest development, Mumbai has also been put on alert following inputs of possible terror attack.
