PANJIM: Jitendra Deshprabhu’s re-induction into Congress early this week has kicked up a controversy as the Congress high command has claimed that there was no approval given for the former legislator’s entry into the party.
The bone of contention seems to be the leader’s arrest in the illegal scam. The Congress, which is already fighting to keep the illegal mining issue at bay during election, has found itself in trouble yet again with his re-induction ahead of March 3, elections.

“The induction has to have an approval from the Central election Committee, which has so far not been given,” Reddy said.
The leader also claimed that there was some kind of a communication gap between the All India Congress Committee and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee.
“Deshprabhu’s induction was recommended by South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha and the party has assured to look into the matter but it never gave an approval,” Reddy said adding the issue is still being deliberated by the central leaders.
GPCC president Subash Shirodkar, however, remains adamant that the induction of Deshprabhu took place only after approval from the high command.
“We had the approval from the high command only then we went ahead,” he said.
Deshprabhu, meanwhile, says “I have no idea of what you are saying,” when asked for his comments.
“I was given clearance by the central leaders but if Mr Reddy is saying so I have nothing to say, maybe he is right,” he stated.
Asked what his stand is after the controversy, he replied, “it is for the leaders to decide.”
