MERCES: The Batim gram sabha, on Sunday, was held peacefully with the villagers passing several resolutions for undertaking developmental activities in the village.
Speaking to Herald, Sarpanch Manuelina Dias informed that the major focus of the gram sabha was on development of the village.
Some of the developmental activities include installing of speed breakers at the Batim junction and also notifying it as a no parking zone so that vehicular traffic is not obstructed.
It was also decided to undertake desilting of drains and illumination of the streets at Gaonkar Wadda.
Another important decision was to install a directional signboard on the main road, showing the way to VP Batim Hall since people attending weddings or parties find it difficult to locate the hall.
Earlier, the villagers were informed of the developmental activities that were undertaken in the village under NREGA scheme, which included land development near Pilar Minor Seminary and de-weeding of the panchayat ground.
