Crime Branch (CB) that is investigating Bismarque’s death received the ‘diatom’ test report on Saturday. CB Superintendent of Police Karthik Kashyap said, “We had sent three samples to CFSL, all three are identical. Sternum, lungs and sample of water where the body was found match in the test,” Kashyap said.
Sources said this proves that Bismarque drowned at the same place where his body was found. The only other report that is still awaited in the case is that of the DNA profiling of the blood stains on the vest that was recovered from the site of incident.
Bismarque’s body was found on November 7 in the River Mandovi at St Estevam. He had been missing since November 5. Bismarque is yet to be laid to rest as the family has not claimed the body and have been demanding a thorough investigation in the matter.
CB has so far interrogated over 30 people, including suspects and witnesses. Statements of all have been recorded, and cross examinations conducted based on allegations leveled by the family, relatives and friends.
