PANJIM: Acting tough against the illegal hoardings put up in CRZ areas, the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA), has directed the District Collectors to identify and take action against illegal hoardings.
The directions have been issued based on the High Court order dated June 16, wherein the coastal body is directed to file a response on ‘the action proposed to be taken against the illegal hoardings upon identifying such hoarding’.
“The authority, after detailed discussion, decided to direct the collectors (North and South Goa districts) and to all the concerned coastal village panchayats to give a list of all the illegal hoardings in CRZ areas,” the Authority decided during its recent meeting.
“Upon receipt of such a list of illegal hoardings from them, the authority will issue directions to the collectors to remove all illegal hoardings in the CRZ area and will submit a compliance report before the GCZMA,” the coastal body said.
Earlier, the High Court had also directed the State government, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), municipal councils, village panchayats and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to submit the status of all the existing hoardings.
