PANJIM: After BJP’s Calangute MLA Michael Lobo submitting a list of drug pushers in a confidential report to Goa police, Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar also flaunted his knowledge about the drug-related activities along the coastal stretch.
“It is known to everyone that drugs are rampant along the coastline and many are involved in it,” he said.
This also includes several shacks in government and private properties.
“Look! The tourism department cannot order closing down of shacks merely on allegations that drugs are sold there. If any specific report about sale of drugs comes to the fore, then licenses would be cancelled,” he said assuring full cooperation to law enforcing agencies.
About two months ago, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had submitted a report about Shiva Valley shack at Anjuna as being involved in illicit activity and the shack’s licence was suspended for three years.
Meanwhile, the NCB has decided to crackdown on private hospitals and clinics which are legitimately carrying out drug detoxification.
