The residents said that instead of following the DM’s order to invoke section 115, which prevents vehicles from entering the area, the DYSP notified Section 112, which limits speed.
“The PWD, RTO and the police, have said that the road is not suitable for heavy vehicles. Why is a certain officer not willing to invoke Section 115 and end our problems once and for all,” Residents of Dongorwaddo, Fatorda Association member Melvin Fernandes asked.
The Association has called for a joint meeting with the concerned authorities to discuss the matter.
“The District Magistrate has already ruled in our favour, only the police need to follow the order, which they are not doing,” Fernandes said.
Many accidents involving heavy vehicles on the narrow road have occurred at the approach road. The residents want that heavy vehicles be barred from using the road to avoid further loss of human life or property.
